Day #1 - The Door Knock(s)

OK... so, here we are (Cesar and I) in New Orleans to photograph the season finale of Extreme Makeover Home Edition. As the producer said to the crew this morning, "This is state # 50 in our two year 'all fifty states' series, and I can't think of a more appropriate place to do this build". After having been here before Katrina, I can tell you that even after a couple of years of "recovery", the city still has a long way to go to get back to pre-Katrina condition. If ever there was a place in America that needs the help over and above what the local community can provide, this is it.

Our day started at 5:00 am (after a long 3.5 hours of sleep) and now it's after midnight and our day is finally over. The day ended up being much busier than I anticipated because this time around the builders are doing two major builds.

There is a family who is getting a new home...

AND a church congregation that is getting a new church.

Normally there is one "door knock", but today we hit three locations. The families home, the church building where the congregation currnetly holds services, and the property where the church is to be built.

With all that happened today there was no time to post to the blog today, so for that I apologize, but so are the ways of this kind of project.
